Kinicho Limited is a provider of bleeding-edge spatial audio technologies and services, offering scalable solutions for companies of all sizes. Founded by a couple of friends who had a great idea for a Music App that required binaural 3D audio but ran into the pain of working with HRTFs. We never delivered that app because we could not achieve the quality our musical heroes deserved.
However, we were not dissuaded. We believed that high-quality spatial audio was possible. We kept talking to other users, thinking about improvements and experimenting with new techniques to achieve our ambitions. By 2015 we had a vision of a new way of doing spatial audio that moved away from the HRTF model and the emulation of a speaker system.
We had a vision of a new physics engine for audio that would simulate how sound propagates in the environment and work with the human auditory system to create natural and real-time Spatial Audio.
In developing this approach we aimed to democratise the creation of spatial audio and revolutionise its distribution. And in late 2018 we had invented a new audio engine that intelligently handles acoustic physics to create natural sonic spaces.
We like to think of ourselves as a hybrid of EMI, where Blumline invented Stereo and created a whole new world of creative possibilities, and Dolby, the setter of standards in Surround Audio... but in the headphone space (or more aptly, the binaural audio space).
Sympan® is the product of these endeavours, evolving audio to add a new level dimensionality but also capable of setting a new standard. The result is the Sonic Reality Engine®, a revolutionary approach that is compatible with legacy formats while at the same time creating the opportunity for naturalistic, realtime soundscapes.
